Trying out new things

current song: Trigun opening theme

Thanks to a Netflix subscription, I'm now able to check out a whole slew of movies and TV shows without actually having to risk buying them and finding out that I hate them. Just recently, I got the first disk for an anime series called Trigun. For those not familiar with it, it appears to be an anime warping of Maverick. The protagonist is Vash the Stampede, a man with sixty billion on his head (that's right, billion). Wherever he goes, death and destruction follow in his wake. What most folk don't know is that Vash is never directly responsible for this. In fact, he's a total wuss who gets faint at the sight of blood. Yet all the bounty hunters who go after him are convinced that he's a dangerous killer. Following him are Meryl Stryfe and Millie Thompson, agents from the Bernardelli Insurance Society. Their job is to try to keep the damage Vash's presence causes to a minimum so their employers remain financially solvent. So far, it's a pretty fun series.

Oh yeah, Trigun is AWESOME! I've seen some of it, but not too many episodes. And Vash is actually pretty deserving of that bounty... even though he may not seem like it at first glance.

Hehe, and now imagine taking various cuts from that series and creating a music video with them to the tune of Kid Rock's "I wanna be a Cowboy".

Yes I've heard it gets more serious in later episodes. Funny thing though, when I initially watched the first episode, I thought Millie was a man since she was a lot taller than Meryl and was wearing a tie. Also consider the number of long-haired androgynous male characters which pop up in anime and maybe you can see the reason for my confusion. But no way was that a man's voice.
